Tak, as he is depicted in the cartoon series

Tak is the main protagonist of the Tak and the Power of Juju Series. He is a teenage boy who hails from the Pupanunu Village and is mentored by Jibolba. He is able to use Juju magic, mainly to fight enemies and consult the Jujus, among various other things. He is voiced by Jason Marsden during the original video games as well as Nicktoons Basketball, and was voiced by Hal Sparks during the television series, Nicktoons: Attack of The Toybots, the 2008 title Tak and the Guardians of Gross, and SpongeBob Squarepants Featuring Nicktoons: Globs of Doom.

Appearance[]

Throughout the course of the series, Tak has largely remained the same, save for the first game. He is usually depicted with somewhat he has tan skin tone, green eyes, dark brown hair and wears a purple war face paint around his eyes, a brown anklet on his left leg and a feather on his head, which also acts as a health meter, slowly fading to purple every time Tak takes damage.

In Tak and the Power of Juju, Tak is very short and has a pudgy stomach. He wears a reddish-brown shell-like loincloth, a holster to carry his weapons over his back, and his hair is styled into a bowl cut.

In Tak 2: The Staff of Dreams, Tak got a design overhaul. He is now a bit taller, thinner, slimmer and in better shape and even leaner, and Never wears a T-Shirt. He wears a dark purple loincloth with a dark yellow belt that resemble a pair of shorts, and his hair is now a bit longer and shaggier and parted in the front (indicating him being a little older). Replacing his holster, Tak now also wears a reddish-brown animal skin cape with a spiral emblem and a blue and purple pin that allows him to glide for a short distance in the air.

Tak largely remains unchanged in Tak: The Great Juju Challenge, save for a green spiral on his cape now.

In the TV series, Tak's design is based on his appearances in Tak 2: The Staff of Dreams and Tak: The Great Juju Challenge, but he now has slightly darker skin tone, his loincloth is a lighter shade of purple, his feather fades into red no matter how much damage he's taken and he's wearing his holster again.

Personality[]

In a nutshell, Tak's personality is determined, generous, brave, and witty. In Tak 1, he's comedic, cowardly, clingy, flamboyant, and awkward, strange, manipulated, lazy, stubborn, and seemed to hum a lot of opera music. Not to mention his voice is higher, as Jason Marsden does his young boy voices. In Tak 2, his personality is slightly more mature and determined. His voice deeper slightly as well. From the first scene in the "Tak's Dream" level, he was resiliant on going on the rescue mission, but ultimatly decided to do so long after he woke up, saying that he's still the hero even when he doesn't want to. In Tak 3, his maturity and voice is the same while his sarcasm and determination to win the challenge is increased a lot. Most of this is due to the fact that Lok is being the main source of the comic relief that there was no need to have Tak make a whole lot of jokes. He does make them here and there thoughout the game. In Tak: Guardians of Gross, Tak's personality is the same as his T.V. show self, since it's based off of it. See the Television Series seciton below for details.

In the first game, he is a bit of a lazy teenager, though matures over the course of the games. He provides most of the comic relief in the first game, though lets Lok handle the jokes in the next two. In Tak 2, his personality is more good natured and helpful to others. He's brave in the face of danger and dedicated to his goal despite the difficulty, such as when he was tasked to gather 100 magic yorbles in Tak 1. In the following two instalments he gains a more sarcastic streak and a somewhat more mature personality.

Tak and the Power of Juju[]

Tak is first seen outside of Jibolba's hut, while he's talking to the player about the events of the game. He, Lok and Jibolba are the only villagers who had not been turned into a sheep by Tlaloc. He is then sent on many errands to help Jibolba restore Lok, incidentally fulfilling the Pupanunu People's Prophecy on his journey.

Tak 2: The Staff of Dreams[]

Some time after the events of the first game, Tak finds himself in a deep sleep for 16 days straight. He finds himself in the Dream World, and he meets a Juju known as the Dream Juju. The Dream Juju informs Tak that he must save a princess trapped in a tower, but Tak declines, seeing how it's a common cliche in many stories. After the Dream Juju says that he will never wake up if the princess isn't saved, Tak agrees to help her.

Tak: The Great Juju Challenge[]

Jibolba tells Tak that he had been selected to compete in the Great Juju Challenge, so he heads to the Juju Realm, and brings Lok with him. Once there, all the teams receive instructions from the Moon Juju, who is initially displeased with the fact that Tak chose Lok as his partner.

The pair fight through the Great Juju Challenge, facing trouble as The Black Mist Tribe sabotage their competitors and cheat their way to the finale.

Upon willing the challenge, Tak and Lok return to the village only to find out that everyone is gone. Jibolba explains that the reasoning for this is because the party went over budget, and had to end early. Instead, Tak and Lok jump up and high-five each other, ending the story of Tak once and for all.
